Okay so I’ve been flown a plane, ridden rollor coasters, and been very high above the ground in other places. But I climbed into a treestand twice this weekend, and both times i was freaked out by the heights, and just plain uncomfortable with the whole situation. I need to know if it just takes a while to get used to or what, because I really would like to hunt from a treestand.
When you are on a roller coaster, you are given assurances that the ride is inherently safe. Same as it is when you are on an airplane. When you’re on a tree stand, you’re pretty much left there exposed to everything, and it seems as if there really isn’t that much supporting you. I guess it’s a psychological thing.
It just takes time. Keep focused on finding that buck.

In all the years I have participated in hunting trips, one thing that always surprises me, and that the lack of attention to safety archer hits a suspended or using their point of view.
If you are going to invest this money in a guard tower that allows great height above their prey and give the added advantage in your game, then why not invest adequate time to get the towers configured correctly, or even better, invest more in safety equipment such as a brake on the fall?
It was the mid-1970s that hunters really began to take Treestands, but it was not until mid 1990, the market has literally exploded. And by the 2000s the cost of Treestands had fallen, and now today is not uncommon for a hunter to have more than one.
The organizations of good statistics on accidents of view is hard to find, but many State Wildlife say there is a statistic of insurance, and that one of every three hunters point of view falls into some point in their hunting career.
We all like to feel invincible, but no, their views should be treated with equal respect your gun, because in a sense, both can be dangerous and threatening.
Here are some tips you should seriously consider when you want to use a lookout for hunting.
1 have an alternate plan
When Scout an area for placement of a point of view, a hunting plan and, if weather conditions are high winds, rain, snow
or ice, you probably do not want to climb a tower.
2. Know your limitations as a climber
Hunters should know what they can when it comes to
maneuverability and try not to overshoot. If climbing a pole
wide mouth on the stand or by using climbing support is difficult, you should not use this type of solution
3. The higher the platform for better
You must remember, it go and finally
throw everything at this point of view, you want the platform that is broad
enough to accommodate these movements without leaving the Board. There are plenty of booths in the market with platforms measure 24 inches wide by 34 inches deep, are you more
on this point, 20 meters above the ground or a platform that measures 14 inches
wide and 17 inches deep?
4. Make sure your platform is the level of
Never place a posture that is tilted forward or tilted to either side, this will put you off balance, especially after session
time and you sit up.
5. Use a lifeline and / or safety harnesses
His harness Security must be attached to the tree from the moment you leave the ground until you come back down. For hunters using ladders or sticks scew / strap measures, should include a life-line as part of that has put in place. A lifeline is a safety rope strong enough to withstand the weight of the hunters, who extends from floor to above the tower. One feature is a lifesaver prussic knot attachment, which allows the hunter a harness clip safety and slide the knot and the bottom line of life by climbing the tree.
Do not become a statistic, take the time to install his view correctly, wearing a harness for global security and think about your safety and your family.
