Auto-Ordinance without a doubt. I had purchased a RIA 1911 basic model in 2005 and never bothered to even fire it. The barrel was pitted(!) due to lack of preservative, the slide was very sloppily made, and the gun is ISO (metric)! Auto-ordinance 1911s are no longer like the used to be after the company was turned around by Kahr Arms. I actually own a Kimber but would get an Kahr-Thompson (Auto Ordinance) WW2 model over a SA GI model or RIA GI model.

A few months ago I picked up a new Sigarms 1911 pistol, which is one of the nicest handguns I’ve ever owned. Match grade components, Novak night sights, checkered front strap and mainspring housing, custom rosewood grips, etc.. Overall, it’s very attractive and well made.
As much as I like 1911′s, I have to admit newer designs such as the Sig 220, for example, are probably more reliable and therefore a better choice for personal protection. To be honest, nearly all the 1911 pistols I’ve owned have had problems at some point. Usually it’s feeding or ejection issues.
Now here’s the kicker: I got this Sig at an awesome price, probably at or below wholesale. It’s still unused and I can easily make $300 profit selling it. So what would you do? Any compelling reasons to keep it? Sweet gun, but only 6+1 capacity. What newer designs have similar ergonomics to the 1911? Thanks for your help.
well i would keep it if its in reallly good condition cuz it will be a collectors item someday and when it sells for a few grand youll be hapy you did

It’s a accurate and heavy gun, but they are under sprung from the factory .So you would want to put at least a 20lb recoil spring in it if you plan on shooting real 10mm loads like double tap.
The witness pistols are made by Tangfolio and imported by EAA.
They have a lifetime warranty.. but EAA’s customer service is pretty lacking from what I’ve heard.
Anyway if it’s a full size wonder finish $300 is a good price.
