Canon Sd1200Is – A Fun Fast Camera In A Small Package
Small enough to carry every place you go for those spontaneous grandkids pictures, a tad thicker than the canon sd 940. The camera is small but easy to handle and has a good feel to it, I like the flat button arrangement on the back of the camera and have no trouble pushing them even with my big old hands, that just me though. The LCD screen is only 2 12inches but is very very clear and sharp to frame and review your pictures with. I carry mine in a little phone case that has a belt clip instead of a belt loop for easy on and off when getting in the car. At our state fair this year i took over 450 pictures some with flash in the barns and 8 short movie clips on one battery charge… A great camera for short movies get a 4 gig (higher speed) sd card if taking alot of movies. No sd card comes with camera , make sure you have one, a 2gig sd card would be good for 750 pictures.
I like using( program mode ), ( auto mode indoors seems to pick a very high iso and makes for to much noise in pictures),again thats just me though… outdoors auto does better though. I keep the iso at 100 or 200 or use (auto iso) in p mode. The camera boots up in 1 sec, shot to shot is 1.5 secs, with the flash on 3 or 4 secs. In auto mode it is trying to focas all the time and is very noisey doing so… make sure you are holding as still as you can (so it won’t think it should refocas again) or it will blur your picture that is another reason i use program mode but you still have to hold very still. And if your new to this digital camera stuff remember to save your pictures first and then low level format your sd card.
Canon SD1200IS – Excellent Point and Shoot Camera For the Money
This sub compact point and shoot camera goes anywhere easily. With it’s optical stability (the prefered stability method) and auto features even I can take great pics. The cloth bag that it was shipped in serves as a good protector without adding the bulk of a camera bag. I’ve had no battery problems and I use a 2gb sans because I seldom store more than 50 pics before I download to my computer with the included usb wire.
I haven’t tried video yet, or custom settings. An indoor pic of a violet blouse showed up more blue that violet on my computer. All other colors seem pretty true.
I photographed a deer at 30 yds with zoom and it came out awesome!
This camera showed very favorable in a recent Consumer Reports mag.
I highly recommend this model but…10 megapix is very unforgiving to people my age lol!
