Anyone who read the Sookie Stackhouse Series by Charlaine Harris?
I finished Dead Until Dark, the first book, a few days ago and I thought it was ok. I don’t really have a lot of time on my hands right now, so I want to know if the rest of the series is worth reading or not.
I would have tried amazon or something like that but i want an actual person who read it.
I read them all in a week about a month ago. Like you, I thought the first book was ok, and wasn’t sure if I should read on, but I wanted to know what to expect from ‘True Blood’. The books do get better, not by a whole lot, but the characters are better defined and the ‘mysteries’ get more elaborate and there’s more humor. I remember disliking the main characters after the first book, because they seemed so bland but they get more developed and I am now wholly invested in them. However, the books also get worse in a way: Sookie becomes more annoying, her romantic life is a bit contrived and the general fallings of book series become more pronounced. You should also remember the series is not finished yet, as the 9th (I think) book comes out in may and the author doesn’t say how many more there will be, so if you don’t like waiting for books to come out, you should probably not read it now.
