Wood Carving: So You Want to Be woodcarver
Wood carving is a specific skill. It requires extreme patience that could develop with a great imagination. If you decide to become a wood carver, will have several styles to choose from. You can use a piece of wood and a small knife. Or you can go so far such as using power tools. So how do you know which style is best for you?
The five main styles of woodcarving. Each style is very different from others. These styles are eroding, chip carving, relief carving, intaglio engraving and sculpture in the round.
◦ carving. The Pruning is the removal of pare shavings or pieces of wood with a cutting blade. This is the easiest wood carving, but not really the art of carving wood. This distinction is important because the court is and always should be very easy. All you need is a piece of wood and a knife and you're good to go. And because it's so simple, knife carved objects did not have many details, as is the case in all other styles of woodcarving.
When you are holding an object carved in the hand, you know absolutely. You can see every movement of the blade. It's that simple when it began centuries ago, at the time of cave men. Is not that amazing?
◦ chip size. Chip carving involves the use of several knives to remove small pieces of wood (chips) of a flat wooden surface. These knives are made particular chip that is used to push or pull the wood, cutting upwards or downwards to free each chip.
Chip carving has expanded to become as own art. The main technique is different smart wooden triangular shapes. This is done in a way that creates finely detailed models are often geometric nature. Free lines are regularly used to accentuate these trends chipped. That could really let your imagination.
◦ relief. This type of sculpture found in a small wooden floor with images cut in 3-dimensional mode. These are the wood carvings that you see on walls or sitting on tables upper surface.
There are two types of aid. A bas-relief carving is identifiable by the visual effect is created. Without deep shadows involving sculpture, product seems very superficial and therefore considered low relief. High relief carvings, a spectacular depth effect is created by adding shadows everywhere. Both types of results: sculptures good size and detail. The finished product is polished to create a very smooth surface. Then it can be painted, wax or varnish.
◦ Intaglio carving. This style of Wood carving is very similar to the relief sculpture. But instead of looking as if it were above the wood surface, it seems that this is part of the jungle. Because the design really penetrate deep into the wood below the surface. Think of old wooden rolling pin. Remember that cute images that were carved into all this? The hollow sculpture.
Intaglio carving has been very popular with furniture manufacturers. It was also far from equipped with a blank space, carved separately and inserted furniture. How are you? You can also find in the restaurants tables and bedroom furniture. It's wonderful for wood paneling. You can see in specialty dishes, as part of a decorative element that exists or that the actual surface of coffee tables and coffee tables.
◦ sculpture in the round. Such is the style most advanced woodcarving. This is a completely detailed carving that can be seen everywhere. It is carved in wood base that serves as a support platform or a pedestal. The sculpture can be a person, an animal or a landscape, almost everything you can imagine. It could be the size or scale. The sky is almost the limit with carving in the round.
This style of carving requires a number of tools. A variety of knives, gouges and chisels are a minimum. The use of power tools is not surprising, and think. The final product is then generally quite spectacular. Often, a product of sculpture in the round is easily mistaken for a porcelain creation. The details are impressive.
Wood carving has been around since the days of cavemen. Over time, art became an incredible view. It is very relaxing, stimulating and often satisfactory. If you are looking for a hobby, wood carving may be just what you're looking for.
