why I miss the clay targets?
in clay shooting, when I shoot the target without lead I have better result than applying lead but my coach says that I need to apply lead when I shoot crosser birds but I miss them and confuse me.
what can I do? any logic explanation
First thing is correct gun fit, if it does not fit you correctly you will struggle with the harder crossing birds. Second is stance. This should be comfortable and as natural as possible, feet shoulder width apart. If your right handed the left foot should be slightly in front. Your weight should be towards your front foot (left). This stance should give good easy movement of the body. Once the gun is mounted correctly you should swing through the target using the whole of your torso twisting at the hips, you should never have to move just the gun or your arms. Once all the basics are in place you can vary the amount of lead on the bird until you find the correct distance. match the swing speed with the bird and set your lead in front pull the trigger and keep the gun swinging (or you will miss). It is very hard to teach someone to shoot without shooting with them to see where they are swinging in relation to the baird/target. Try reading up on clay shooting and try another coach, if you are in the Uk the BASC has some very good instructors at alot of game fairs and advice on their web site. Hope some of this helps.
