What size bullet mold do i use for a .36 cal blackpowder pistol.?
There is a .350 and a .360 and others. new to the game and could use some advice. Thanks
The gun is a primitave arms co. six shot revolver.
How much powder should I use? I’ve heard 9 to 12 grains of 3f.
Is it a revolver or single shot with side lock? What is the name of the manufacture, model etc.
Give us more to go on please. You see they can vary quite a bit.

And measure from land to land inside the bore. If it’s a revolver and the cylinder chamber mics to .361 then use .362 or .363 balls, The extra soft lead will be shaved off the ball as you press it in.
If it’s a single shot muzzle loader pistol mic it and then subtract for the patch material so that the patch is being compressed as you ram the patched ball in.
A dial caliper is a gun owners friend!
Buy the way some of them take a .380 ball, this is why we need more info or you need to mic it.

Ok from my research I can not find a revolver made by Primitive arms. Now there was a company in the 1980s called PRIMITIVE ARMS CO. BRANSON,MO. They sold black powder guns made by Uberti of Italy, and made for them and stamped “Primitive Arms”. Problem is Uberti made quite a few different .36 cal revolvers over the years. Like this one for example;

That one and many of the Uberti .36 cal revolvers take a .375 ball. But I can’t be sure if your pistol was made by Uberti
As for powder charge Uberti .36 has a max load of 25 gr buy volume measure of 3 fg also called FFFg black powder. They can handle more but it just wears the gun out faster. So start with 18 gr and work it up till its accurate.
If you use Hodgen 777 black powder substatue measure it by volume but reduce the load from 15 to 20 gr max. Tripple seven creates more pressure than black powder. Prodex FFFg can be measured by volume and used just like black powder.
By the way a rule of thumb for wheel guns is to use just enough powder to touch the seated ball you dont want an air space between the ball and powder. Some will fill any air space with a cardboard wad cut to fit under the ball and they sell over powder wads for this. Forget the 9 gr charge its not enough. Be sure to cover the loaded cylinders with bore butter or grease to prevent chain fire.
