Which Scope? Leupold , Nikon, Bushnell, Burris or Other?
Hi,
Im planning on Purchasing a scope for my .308 rifle (it will be used as target and some hunting)
My Price range is $300 or below (its ok if its a little over)
The Scopes I have been Looking at are:
Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14-40mm SF BDC
Nikon Team Primos Monarch 3-9-40mm
Bushnell 4200 3-9-40mm
Leupold VX II or I 3-9-40mm
Burris Fulfield II
and I will be open to any suggestions!
Things that are important for me are Consistant Turret Elevation and Windage Adjustments. Customer Serivce, and Durability!
Please Help I have heard all these scopes are good but which would be the best for what im looking for?

There is no question about it, the Leupold is the best quality BRAND of scope you have listed there, but if you are wanting to get the “whole 9(00) yards” out of your .308, you are definitely going to want to forget about 3-9 magnification. A good fixed 10x is always a winner on a .308, but you might want to seriously consider dropping the 3-9, and opting for 4-12x40mm or 4-16x40mm.
The Nikon BDC you have listed is a nice zero-and-forget that will do well for hunting and mildly serious target shooting from 100-500 yards. There are scopes in this price range that are competition worthy though.
For $299-$399 Super Sniper makes a helluva scope. They are fixed powered (available in 10x, 16x, and 20x.). They are excellent for 100-1200 yards. Similar scopes are $900 plus. Check ‘em out:

I was mildly impressed with a Bushnell 3200 elite, FOR THE $176 price tag that is. I have one on a dirt cheap Howa 1500 for long range pig hunting. I can consistently plink vital area sized steel targets out to 900 yards with it. What more can you expect for that price?
As I have stated Leupold is a great scope and a great company, but I think you would be happier spending the amount you are willing to spend on something else. For the criteria you have set forth I don’t think the Super Sniper can be beat. They can take a pounding too, we have used ‘em on .50′s in a pinch.
