How can I clean stains and soiling off suede leather? I have a vintage fringe leather jacket. ?
The jacket is Native American style. It is stained and soiled around the collar and cuffs. The jack smells of being old too. It’s a very nice jacket and I’d like to wear it. However, I’d rather do try to do the cleaning myself rather the take it to a Pro cleaner since they can charge upwards of $$$.
Can anyone share advice please.

You can use fine sandpaper to remove soiled areas on suede.
I have washed leather like any other garment, by hand and also in the wash machine. There may not be any other way to remove the smell from leather. Sometimes even washing it several times the leather still retains the smell.
If you wash anything leather just hang up away from heat. Remove any creases make sure the fringe is hanging straight and is not tangled.
If the leather stiffens you can work it and stretch it to soften it.
I have washed deer and moose hide this way, as well as cow hide suede. I have never had a problem. Then again there is always a first time.
There are many types of leather. I washed what I believe was goat skin and it shrank, but it was on a product at was easily stretched back into shape.
