Can I repair my fuel tank with a do it yourself repair kit?
I have a 2001 Saturn L300 that has a fuel tank leak. I know this because I can smell fumes inside my car and there is gasoline on the outside of the tank but no puddles or drops of gas on the gound. What can I do?
Gasoline doesn’t ignite, it’s fumes do. because you smell gas, doesn’t mean it’s coming from the tank. the high pressure system for the fuel system is all outside of the tank. odds are, that’s where the leak is (90+psi), so best to have it check, to prevent it from becoming a car fire, which are pretty common and can be deadly.
