how do I bleed air out of my well water system to stop the squeal?
I just posted about a squeal in the pressure portion of my water system and it was suggested I bleed the air out of the system, I am handy but don’t know how to do that. any help
Your well system has to have some air in the resevoir tank or the water will never come out. If you have a newer blue or green bladder tank, (that’s a tank with a rubber bladder installed to keep the air and the water separated), it will be pressurized, ideally, to the same pressure at which your pump kicks on and starts pumping more water. If you have an old style resevoir tank, where the air becomes trapped above the water to provide pressure for release, then you most likely need a new air volume control. It’s a little silver thing that looks similar to a flying saucer, only on it’s edge, and it’s screwed into the side of the tank. It has a small rubber diaphram inside, that can rupture after years of use and allow air to get into the lines. Mine does it about once a year. Other than that there should be no air in your lines.
