How do you know if a butterfly knife is real or not?
I don’t know if my butterfly knife is real or not… I just go one at a gun and knife show yesterday but I guess there are real butterfly knives and butterfly knives?

Assuming you’re talking about the balisong, it’s real if it conforms to the design labeled as such. “Butterfly knife” isn’t a brand name but a type of knife. Many companies manufacture and sell them.
If you look at the Wikipedia article I included above you’ll be able to read what a butterfly knife is. That should help you decide if it’s “real” or not. You may also want to look at the legal section since they are prohibited weapons in many countries, states and provinces.
Like Shihan said, if you don’t know you really shouldn’t have one. Knives aren’t toys and you can end up in serious trouble if you allow yourself to think otherwise.
